In this talk\, we will focus on the use cases for quantum computing that have been explored at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) related to simulations and optimization problems in the power grid. For example\, electromagnetic transient (EMT) simulation is an upcoming power grid simulation need that needs significant computing resources. Using HHL\, VQLS\, and other variants of solvers\, we have seen feasibility in using quantum computing to perform EMT simulations. Another problem is traditional NP-hard mixed-integer optimization problems like unit commitment and design optimization problems that haven’t been solved to global optima in power systems. Using VQE and QUBO algorithms with benders’ decomposition (or variants)\, we have been able to showcase feasibility and preliminary advantages of using quantum computing to resolve unit commitment and energy storage placement optimization problems. These examples will be discussed\, along with challenges faced in these solutions and the work ahead. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Speaker:\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Dr. Suman Debnath\n Group Lead\, Oak Ridge National Laboratory - Pending Agency Approval \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Dr. Debnath is the group lead and sub-program and portfolio manager at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL)\, leading several projects with industry\, national labs\, and academia members related to Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) Simulations and quantum computing for power grid (creating a portfolio of research projects worth ~US$35+M at ORNL). He received my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras\, Chennai\, India\, in 2010\, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University\, West Lafayette\, IN\, USA\, in 2015. His main research interests include applied mathematics for different power electronics and power systems applications like EMT modeling and simulation algorithms\, optimal control\, use of advanced computing (e.g.\, quantum computing) in power grids\, and their different applications. \n  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Register\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Zoom for Government enables ATARC remote collaboration opportunities through its cloud platform for video and audio conferencing\, chats and webinars across all devices. SUMMARY:Zero Trust Lab Demonstration with TrendAI
DESCRIPTION:  Presents\nZero Trust Lab Phase 3 Demonstration \nwith TrendAI\n July 31\, 2026 from 12 PM – 1:30 PM ET \n** 1 CPE Credit Available \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Join our ATARC Zero Trust Lab Phase 3 Demonstration with TrendAI!\n \n Register\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n				 \nPlease note — this demonstration is a government-only audience. You must register with your government email address to be admitted (.gov or .mil). If you are a contractor\, you must register as representing your government agency. If you have any questions\, please email Amy Karpowicz at akarpowicz@atarc.org. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n This presentation demonstrates how TrendAI Vision One delivers Zero Trust as a unified\, AI-driven platform rather than a collection of point tools. Every capability shown maps directly to the NSA’s seven pillars of Zero Trust\, with native sensors and an agentic AI layer operating over a single data lake. Because the platform integrates identity management\, endpoint\, workload\, SOAR\, and SDN — and runs both cloud-agnostic and on-premises — it provides continuous\, policy-driven enforcement across the full mission environment instead of stitching together disconnected controls. \nThe session will walk through the platform in action across the use cases that matter most to federal security and governance teams. These include sensitive-data classification that drives downstream access decisions\, vulnerability and incident management enriched with AI-based attack-path prediction\, and governance spanning the broader ecosystem\, software supply chain\, and SBOMs. Throughout\, AI is used not just to detect but to prioritize and act — automatically ranking risk and cutting service tickets so analysts spend their time remediating rather than researching and documenting. \nDuring this session\, TrendAI will actively demonstrate the ATARC Zero Trust Lab Phase 3 AI Track Use Cases\, walking through the platform in action across critical federal security and governance workflows. \n \n \n \n \n \n Participants\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Don Bogert\n Principal Solution Engineer\, US Public Sector\, TrendAI \n With more than 25 years of experience in cybersecurity\, Don brings a comprehensive approach to organizational defense.
