The mission of the CQT is to collaborate with industry and government stakeholders to identify compelling needs and challenges in quantum technologies\, and then develop novel solutions to address these opportunities. Quantum technologies are governed by the physics of sub-atomic particles and have relevance to computing\, sensing\, imaging\, metrology\, communications\, and cryptography. Because of their wide-ranging applicability\, quantum technologies promise to be transformative\, with uses in intelligence\, financial security\, computing\, medicine\, and navigation. Society has entered the second quantum revolution\, but it is still in its infancy\, and the nascent quantum industry requires significant fundamental research to mature novel technologies. In partnership with industrial and government members\, the CQT researchers will use their expertise in quantum science and engineering to develop and transfer foundational knowledge into industry-friendly quantum devices\, systems\, and algorithms with enhanced functionality and performance. Additionally\, the CQT will help train the next generation of quantum scientists and engineers to support the development of a critically needed quantum workforce. Students not only conduct research\, but also help writing project reports\, present at biannual meetings\, and interact with industry and government members. This talk will give an overview of the IUCRC model along with the CQT mission\, vision and research themes. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Speaker:\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Dr. David J. Over the next three to five years\, advanced quantum sensors and computers once confined to laboratories will begin to have real-world impact\, with significant economic and national security implications. But the United States faces a major industrial challenge: its quantum supply chains are thin\, globally dispersed—in some cases reliant on China and Russia—and poorly positioned for the transition to commercial utility\, posing significant vulnerabilities for quantum’s continued development and deployment. This talk will offer a framework for assessing these gaps across quantum hardware modalities\, enabling technologies\, and vulnerability categories\, as well as recommendations to strengthen the industrial foundations of U.S. quantum leadership. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Speaker:\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Constanza M. Her work examines the intersection of quantum technologies with U.S. national and economic security\, and currently focuses on the supply chains\, manufacturing capacity\, and deployment infrastructure needed to scale and sustain the United States’ quantum competitiveness. \nVidal Bustamante is also an adjunct professor at Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service. Prior to CNAS\, she was a science and technology policy researcher at the National Academies of Sciences\, Engineering\, and Medicine and at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs\, where she led research on semiconductor workforce development\, digital technology governance\, and the domestic and international dynamics shaping the United States’ strategy for technology leadership.  \nVidal Bustamante holds doctoral\, master’s\, and bachelor’s degrees from Harvard University. \n  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Register\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Zoom for Government enables ATARC remote collaboration opportunities through its cloud platform for video and audio conferencing\, chats and webinars across all devices.
