Cloud Working Group
The ATARC Cloud Working Group is a technical working group of government, academia and private industry thought leaders collaborating on topics related to the Federal cloud & infrastructure community. The group’s goal is to pinpoint and hone in on various obstacles and challenges in cloud solution deployments in federal agencies. Then, in close alignment with government policies on data security, such as the Federal Cloud Smart Strategy, FedRAMP compliance and Trusted Internet Security (TIC) 3.0 guidelines, the collective aims to provide strategic recommendations to remove the identified cloud barriers, accelerate emerging cloud technology adoption, and increase efficiency and reduce cost using cloud smart and cutting-edge infrastructure solutions.
Key Group Objectives
- Form dedicated Project Teams that work together with government participants and focus on specific cloud and data center topic areas
- Identify technology and associated contract vehicles that government can utilize to procure cloud products, services and solutions

Working Group Project Teams
The Cloud Working Group Project Teams consist of the following categories: Data Center, Cloud Migration, Telecommunication/Trusted Internet Connections (TIC) 3.0, Cloud Cost Modeling, Cloud Security (agile ATO), App Rationalization, Cloud Reskilling, and Cloud Monitoring.
Cloud Migration Project Team
This Project Team will focus on cloud migration and the process of moving elements to a cloud computing environment, as well as the various types of cloud migrations that can be performed.
Telecommunication/TIC Project Team
This Project Team will explore the purpose of the Trusted Internet Connections (TIC) Initiative and how it will improve the federal government’s security posture and incident response capability.
This Project Team will explore the goals of a Cloud cost model to help a decision maker solve a problem. The purpose of cost modeling is to find the best solutions while saving time and money.
This Project Team will focus on increasing the speed of the Authority to Operate (ATO) for Cloud while keeping pace with security requirements in the Government. This project teams effort will also explore OSCAL (Open Security Controls Assessment Language) and the creation of a pilot that can capture multiple other features as proof of concept.
This Project Team will explore how to reskill workers and companies for the digital age of Cloud.
