John Ackerly

As CEO and Co-Founder of Virtru, John is a long time privacy advocate. Prior to co-founding Virtru, John was an investor at Lindsay Goldberg LLC, working with entrepreneurs to dramatically scale their businesses. John also served as the lead technology policy advisor at the White House National Economic Council and was the Policy and Strategic Planning Director at the U.S. Department of Commerce.
John graduated from Williams College, was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Angel Smith
President, Global Public Sector
Angel Smith is Virtru’s President of Global Public Sector. She leads go-to-market strategy and customer success for Virtru’s global public sector business, working to further establish Virtru’s Data Security Platform as the data-centric security standard across the Department of War, Intelligence Community, coalition partners, and the broader national security ecosystem
Smith joined Virtru from Microsoft, where she served as Vice President, Americas Worldwide Public Sector and Global Defense and Intelligence, leading public sector sales and driving global growth in the defense sector. She previously led Microsoft’s Mission Solutions and Customer Expansion organization, managing a 120+ person cross-functional team delivering custom Azure workloads—including AI/ML and hyperscale cloud solutions—into sovereign, air-gapped, and classified environments across the DoD, Intelligence Community, Five Eyes, and AUKUS partners.

Don Yeske
Senior Solutions Architect, Federal
Don Yeske is the Senior Solutions Architect & Enablement Lead at Virtru, where he leverages extensive public sector experience to support the growth of Virtru’s federal practice. He helps government agencies implement robust data-centric security solutions that protect sensitive information across on-premises, cloud-native, and AI-driven workflows.
Yeske brings deep cybersecurity and technology leadership from his previous roles across the federal government. Most recently, he served as Director of the National Security Cyber Division (NSCD) within the DHS Office of the Chief Information Security Officer. Prior to DHS, he held senior positions at the Department of the Navy, including serving as Chief Technology Officer. His career also includes key leadership roles at Headquarters Marine Corps, where he led modernization efforts for the Marine Corps Enterprise Network.
