This talk will outline user-centric motivations and requirements that drive the development of technologies for full-stack interfacing and integration of quantum computing platforms with HPC systems from hardware, software to applications and skills. European activities driven through the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking as well as global activities such as the IEEE Quantum-HPC Working Group will be presented alongside the technological challenges and R&D collaborations that are ongoing.

ICHEC is the national center for high-performance computing (HPC) and data platforms and services in the Republic of Ireland.

At ICHEC, Venkatesh is responsible for the strategy, implementation and partnerships for R&D into the technological solutions to develop and use of the HPC and data platforms by national and EU users across academic research, enterprise and public sector organisations.

This spans federated data management platforms for environmental, climate and Earth sciences, health, renewable energy and related domains; computational engines and environments for development and operation of digital twins; and emergent technologies such as quantum computing and its interfacing with conventional HPC.

Venkatesh is also involved in and contributes to the development of national and European strategic research agenda on these areas.
