The New Logic of Innovation: Scaling Federal DevSecOps with Agentic AI
ATARC DevSecOps Working Group | March 2026Â
In 2026, the federal workforce is transitioning from manual software “Creators” to strategic “Curators” who manage digital squads of autonomous agents within a scaled DevSecOps environment. By shifting intelligence left, these agents autonomously refactor legacy code into cloud-native microservices and perform machine-speed vulnerability patching to create a proactive, self-healing operational environment. To secure this autonomy, agencies are implementing a Zero-Trust architecture for Non-Person Entities and leveraging regulatory frameworks like OMB M-25-21 and NIST IR 8596, ensuring that innovation remains safely bounded by human judgment and rigorous security standards.
